One of the myriad of beauty goodies stashed in the sakkie I received from Clicks’ spring beauty extravaganza was new Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion mascara
This is the first Max Factor mascara I’ve tried and I’m very, very impressed. By no means does it create an effect that looks like falsies, but it does add lots of volume and length. According to the press release, its formula contains ‘plumping particles’ and ‘nylon fibres’ like those found in real lash extensions. If I hadn’t read that, I’d never have guessed ‘cos I didn’t spot any teensy little fibres hanging off my lashes and to me that’s a good thing. I only saw deliciously black, fabulously defined, super-long lashes (the kind I used to think you could only get from Lancome’s Hypnose mascara).
But getting back to the definition bit… this is something that’s important to me. I like my lashes to look beautifully separated without a drop of clumpage. This is why I like Max Factor’s new offering so much – it really does ‘define’ and this was a pleasant surprise… hearing words like ‘fibres’, ‘volume’ and ‘false lash effect’ immediately made me think it would be a lumpy, clumpy type of formula.
My top tip? Give the brush a bit of a wipe with a tissue when you first get it. The first time I used this, too much product was sitting on the brush and it created an uber-messy look that nearly put me off. However, the moment I removed the excess it became the kind of mascara I’ll be happy to buy and use again.
